“Outside of a book, a dog is man’s best friend. Inside of a dog, it’s too dark to read”
Every year, Nick’s very pleased to man the proofing press at the Whittington Press Open Day; this small tradition started when he worked at Hand & Eye Letterpress, and has continued after he moved away. On the day, visitors are able to print their own copy of the poster, which Nick’s set at home and brought down to Gloucestershire for the occasion.
These are the last few copies of the poster from 2019. It was set in set in 72pt Centaur type, and a miscellany of wood type. This poster is also one of the first uses of a piece of type engraved and cast specially for the day (visible at the bottom of the imprint in the 3rd photo).
