Japanese-style notebooks

These blank notebooks are bound by hand using traditional Japanese binding techniques: firstly, the sheets are bound together using two strings of twisted washi paper, and their knots pounded flat – the monk’s binding. Corner pieces of washi or bookcloth are then added at the spine, for extra strength. Finally, the covers are positioned and sewn into place.

Four sizes are available, based on Japanese paper sizes, with a variety of covering materials and stitching patterns. Due to the way the covering materials are made, there will be some variation: photos are only examples of the books. If you’d like to see which specific books are available, or if you’re after a particular design that isn’t available, please get in touch.
